High PCR (elevated protein:creatinine ratio)
A high PCR indicates proteinuria, meaning excessive protein is being lost in the urine.
Protein detected on urinalysis may signal urinary tract infection, inflammation, or possible kidney involvement, all of which require further assessment. Persistent or significant proteinuria is clinically important because it may point to underlying renal disease or hypertensive disorders, and should prompt further investigation.
Low or Normal PCR
A low or normal PCR indicates no significant protein loss, which makes serious urinary tract pathology less likely.
