Transmission of Adenoviral gastroenteritis is mostly through faecal-oral spread and from contact with contaminated environments with infections most commonly occurring in children. Symptoms are mild but are relatively prolonged, 5-12 days.
The incubation period ranges from 2 to 14 days, however, virus may be shed in stool for weeks to months following acute illness.
